About Pearl Jewellery

Jewellery is intrinsically delicate and impractical by design hence its popularity. Design concepts require joining of incompatible materials as if by magic, these are obvious points of risk and therefore your jewellery items should be treated with due care and diligence to keep the integrity of the piece whilst you and others enjoy the inspirational marriage of Pearls, Gold, Diamonds and Imagination. Bear in mind the axiom: “Jewellery is evocative adornment to enhance beauty and wouldn’t work if it were practical - Risks must be taken”. All jewellery items are inspected for quality control prior to shipment and we feel that our normal “No Quibble” returns policy will adequately cover rare cases of product defects. If it can be shown that the item is defective, at our discretion we may offer repair, replacement, exchange, or refund subject to availability of stock. However, we offer extended reassurances detailed below

Thread – 6 Months

Every care is taken to ensure that the thread used for stringing our pearl necklaces and pearl bracelets is professional grade and meets our industry standards. At Pearl Magpie we expect the life of the thread to be approximately 2 years for normal use after which period we recommend restringing of the pearl necklace or pearl bracelet. If the thread should break or show signs of weakness – individual strands breaking – then we will re-string the pearl necklace or pearl bracelet at no charge for a period of 6 months from the day after you receive the item. If we can show to our satisfaction that the thread has broken through snagging, cutting, rough handling, misuse or unusual wear and tear, then we reserve the right to charge for restringing. We shall email you with detail for your approval or return the pearl necklace/pendant to you at our expense.

Chains – 6 Months

The chains Pearl Magpie use for our pearl jewellery are 18, 14, or 9 carat gold and functional for normal use in jewellery. However, in the unlikely case where the chain was to break, we will replace chains for a period of 6 months from the day after you receive your pearl necklace/pendant. If we can show to our satisfaction that the chain was broken through snagging, cutting, rough handling, misuse or unusual wear and tear, then we reserve the right to charge for replacement. We shall email you with detail for your approval or return the chain to you at our expense.

Pearls – 14 Days

Pearls are unique and a natural product - not made by man - and as such cannot fit into a conventional interpretation of manufacturer’s guarantee. The lustre, shape, colour, nacre quality, and surface blemishing are intrinsic and to a large degree only measurable by subjective formula. You have the right to cancel the purchase without having to give a reason at any time within the “No Quibble” period of fourteen calendar days, beginning on the day after you receive the goods. We therefore believe that the 14 days “No Quibble” period would allow you sufficient time to decide if you accept the pearl or pearls as presented, the same would apply to any Organic gem in your jewellery purchase from Pearl Magpie. If, through special circumstances, this is insufficient time to decide then please get in touch and we will agree a suitable period. It is Pearl Magpie policy that we only sell Natural Pearls and or Cultured Pearls and can guarantee that all our pearls will fit into this description; details of characteristics can be found in “about pearls”

Pearls Detaching – 1 Year

For pearl earrings, pearl rings or other Pearl Magpie jewellery in which pearls are not drilled through, the pearls are generally attached by post and glue to make a visually pleasing effect (unlike say diamonds that are generally held with claws) this is the accepted method to gain a strong bond with the fitting and not to hide the pearl. It is possible that a pearl will become dislodged due to knocking, heat, pulling or snagging etc. Pearl Magpie will reset the pearl at no charge for a period of 1 year from the day after you received your pearl jewellery. Please return the jewellery to us, where you are responsible for the cost of returning the item and Pearl Magpie will make good the repair and return the pearl jewellery to you at no further cost to you. In the event that you have lost the pearl then we do not accept any responsibility for such loss and will, upon your email approval, charge to replace the pearl at replacement cost.

EXCHANGE POLICY - 30 Days
